Meghan Crewson has always been the type of person who wants to help those she meets. It has come natural for her to work hands on with patients and listen to their needs. However, it has been a journey for her to land in being so grounded in what she does. Meghan started out completing a Bachelor in Kinesiology before moving froward into the Osteopathy program at the Canadian College of Osteopathy. While in school for Osteopathy, Meghan layered on schooling to obtain her Registered Massage Therapy Diploma. Finally, Meghan completed her research thesis to fully graduate with her DOMP and D.Sc.O in Osteopathy as of November 2020. Through many years of schooling Meghan has become an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner that she is proud, however there is plenty of room for learning and improving ahead! What Meghan has come to love about her career is that she gets to witness and help patients grow and learn through vulnerability. Helping teach patients to be aware of their body is one of the most rewarding aspects for Meghan. Meghan’s practice uses cranial-sacral therapy, gentle fascial techniques, joint mobilization, and visceral manipulation. Meghan is always ready to listen and make suggestions of selfcare that patients can do at home. Meghan’s selfcare consists of water, meditation, yoga, soccer, nature hikes and enjoying food with friends and family.

Growing up as a competitive athlete, I developed a deep appreciation for the resilience of the human body and the importance of the connection between physical, mental, and emotional health. I spent a lot of time cross-training with yoga during my teen years and into my 20s, and found that it provided a unique release that other forms of exercise couldn’t match.

It wasn’t until I decided to go to India in 2017 to complete my Yoga Teacher Training certification that I learned the true meaning of a yoga practice. The poses are just one branch of the tree, and the philosophy of yoga includes everything from morality, respect, hygiene, meditation - and my personal favourite as a Naturopathic Graduate - doing no harm to others.

Over the decades, my practice has evolved and will continue to evolve throughout my life. For now, I’m ecstatic to be able to bring people together, strengthen our community, get people moving and this month, to honour Endometriosis Awareness Month! See you on your mat :)

I have only known an integrated approach to health, so suffice it to say, it isn’t surprising to me that I chose this career path. I grew up taking vitamins and supplements, knowing that fish oils supported my brain development or that spending time in the sun gave me vitamin D. I also took antibiotics when I had infections, painkillers after surgeries, and chemicals peels for acne scars. I was fortunate enough to have access to and knowledge of these medicines, and they all had their time and place. Growing up this way has made me passionately curious about prevention and wellness, and now, has informed my approach to care.

I aim to educate and empower and provide patient-centred care using inclusive and evidence-based therapies. I treat patients using clinical nutrition, supplementation, acupuncture (including cosmetic and electrostimulation), cupping, and lifestyle counselling. Each patient is treated holistically, their unique circumstances are used to guide treatment outcomes and patient goals.

Before completing the Doctor of Naturopathy program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, I completed my Honours Bachelor of Science in Life Science at McMaster University. It was there that I discovered naturopathy and the tenants it operates under. It was an instantaneous “click” for me, I knew this was what I was meant to do.

All these years of study have given me a true appreciation for the various functions of the human body, and my aim as a Naturopathic doctor is to optimize those functions and restore quality of life. I love my job, as it not only allows me to help you but to help myself. I am excited and honoured to welcome you into this community!
